The Three Cairns Fellowship
The Three Cairns Fellowship at CBS provides support to MBA/EMBA students who complete semester- or year-long projects at the intersection of climate change and business.
Students may apply individually or in teams for projects that work with Columbia research faculty, or any type of organization or business in the U.S. or abroad that is addressing sustainability and climate change issues. Past company partners include Newlab, Energize Ventures, BlackRock, Safi Organics, and Closed Loop Partners.
Typical Application Timeline: Application takes place in the fall around September-October, with multiple information sessions. Projects take place from November to April.

Charif Souki Global Energy Fellows
This fellowship is available across the schools at Columbia, and is meant to build a community of leaders in energy and policy. The program supports summer internships with specific entities in the energy space. Past organizational partners include California Air Resources Board, CohnReznick Capital, Equinor, and the World Bank.
Typical Application Timeline: Due in September/October, with programming starting in the spring and summer internship supported by the program

Morgan Stanley Sustainable Investing Fellowship
The Morgan Stanley Sustainable Investing Fellowship aims to mobilize private-sector capital to address major economic, social and environmental challenges and develop the next generation of leaders at the intersection of sustainability and finance.
Typical Application Timeline: Application in fall on Vmock, for 10-week summer internship

EDF Climate Corps Fellow
Open to graduate students to work for 10-12 weeks with a private or public organization on a project related to emissions reduction. Fellows focus on a range of areas including agriculture, supply chain, renewables, and sustainable finance.
Typical Application Timeline: Application in fall (2023: Early application deadline: November 30, 2023; Regular application deadline: January 9, 2024)

Climate Knowledge Initiative Fellows
The Climate Knowledge Initiative focuses on reducing the information gap on the size & potential of low-carbon technologies. Fellows will research the climate transition and translate technical reports into articles, slide decks, case studies, and opportunity summaries.
Typical Application Timeline: Rolling, 2023 applications reviewed in fall for spring semester

Tamer Institute – Social Enterprise Summer Fellowship
The Tamer Summer Fellowship provides financial support to MBA students engaged in summer internships that create social and environmental value, and around 70 summer fellows are supported each year.
Typical Application Timeline: Must have an offer for full-time summer internship for application. Applications open March 1 for first-years, and all applications materials must be submitted at least one week in advance of starting the summer internship.
